3 Officers Punched, Bit in Bowling Alley Brawl

They were bit, punched and scratched, police say

A bowling alley brawl hurt three Hillside police officers early Friday morning.

The officers found more than 20 people engaged in a fight at Hillside Bowl, at 4545 Harrison St., around 2:15 a.m., the Chicago Tribune reports, and the officers got swept up in the melee.

People in the crowd bit, punched and scratched the officers, according to Hillside Police Chief Joe Lukaszek. The group swung bats, but the bats didn't hit the officers, Lukaszek said.

The officers were taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, and two were released. One remained hospitalized with facial fractures, the police chief said.

Police arrested seven people between the ages of 20 and 30. The others escaped, he said.

No charges have been filed at this time.
