Odds Set for Chicago Blackhawks' 2016-17 Stanley Cup Quest

The Chicago Blackhawks may have seen their Stanley Cup dreams dashed in short order during the 2016 playoffs, but oddsmakers are confident that the team will make a quick rebound going into next season.

According to new odds released by Bodog on Monday, the Blackhawks have the second-best odds of any team to win the Stanley Cup, with a 10-to-1 chance of winning a fourth title in the last eight seasons. Their number only trails one team, and that’s the current champion Pittsburgh Penguins, who have an 8-to-1 shot of repeating next season according to the website.

The Blackhawks are followed on the odds sheet by the Washington Capitals (10-to-1), St. Louis Blues (12-to-1), and a three-way tie for fifth, with the Tampa Bay Lightning, Los Angeles Kings, and San Jose Sharks all sporting 14-to-1 odds of winning a championship.

Fans looking for a longshot will need to turn their gaze northward. The Buffalo Sabres and Toronto Maple Leafs share the dubious distinction of having the worst odds, with a 66-to-1 chance of winning the Cup, and the Vancouver Canucks and Winnipeg Jets are among six teams with a 50-to-1 shot of hoisting the historic trophy.
