Oak Lawn Village Manager Larry Deetjen faces five charges stemming from the crash

The village manager of south suburban Oak Lawn turned himself in Friday morning on charges stemming from a October hit-and-run in nearby Chicago Ridge.

The victim, a 48-year-old man, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center.

Deetjen allegedly fled the scene, and was later found in the 5100 block of West 96th Street. He was arrested in the days following the collision, but was released and placed on paid leave by the Oak Lawn village board.

Deetjen was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, failure to give information and render aid resulting in injury or death to any person, or damage to any vehicle, failure to give information after striking a person or property, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and failure to exercise due caution.

He posted bond on Friday, and was given a court date of Dec. 10.
