O'Hare Plow Truck Leaks 160 Gallons of Fuel

No delays or injuries reported after fuel leak in maintenance building

A ruptured fuel tank at O'Hare Airport caused close to 160 gallons of diesel fuel to spill Friday morning.

A level 1 hazardous materials response was called about 6 a.m. to the onsite maintenance building, according to the Chicago Tribune. The building is located far from the airfield and no other airport operations were affected, Chicago Department of Aviation officials said.

Officials said that most of the fuel was absorbed by sand, leaving about 40 gallons that spilled into the sewer, according to the Tribune.

No injuries were reported.
