Man Charged in Stabbing of NYC Mom, Children, Lived in Chicago

He was found in the home with his feet covered in blood and a machete and a pair of scissors nearby

Police say a man charged in connection with the stabbing deaths of a mother and her four young children in Brooklyn late Saturday night had been staying with the family after he came from Chicago.

Officers responded to a call of a person stabbed at a home on 57th Street in Sunset Park just before 11 p.m. and found all five victims unconscious and unresponsive, NBC New York reported.

Two girls, 9-year-old Linda Zhuo and 7-year-old Amy Zhuo, were pronounced dead at the scene, along with the youngest child, 1-year-old William Zhuo. Their brother, 5-year-old Kevin Zhuo, and their 37-year-old mother, Qiao Zhen Li, were taken to hospitals where they later died, authorities said.

Police said Sunday that 25-year-old Ming Don Chen implicated himself in the deaths and was charged with five counts of murder.

Law enforcement sources said Chen is a cousin of the mother and had been staying with the family for about a week since coming to Brooklyn from Chicago. He was found inside the home with his bare feet covered in blood and a machete and a pair of scissors nearby.
