Attorneys: Video Shows Body-Slamming Officer Removing Another Cubs Fan From PNC Park

Attorneys representing a Cubs fan who claims he was body-slammed by a Pittsburgh officer at the team’s Pirates game at PNC Park say that a new video shows the same policeman throwing another Cubs fan out of the park that same night.

“As is reflected by the video, the police officer, while acting under color of law and escorting the Cubs out of PNC Park, eggs on and incites the crowd, laughing and giving high fives to the Pirates fans,” Turcy Chute LLC said in a press release.

The law firm represents Dimitri Mitalas who they say appears in a previous video, embedded below, that allegedly shows the officer picking him up and body-slamming him to the ground during the Cubs' Oct. 7 post-season baseball game.

"You can tell this guy had it out for Cubs fans," Mitalas said.

Pittsburgh Police Spokesperson Sonya Toler told NBC Chicago by email that the mayor has requested that the Office of Municipal Investigations review the matter. Once that process is complete, there will be further comment. She also confirmed that both videos have been submitted to the department.

The mayor's office said via email that anything related to the incident is subject to the investigation and consequently Mayor Bill Peduto is unable to comment.

However, Peduto told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette it is unclear what circumstances led to the confrontation.

“It’s hard to tell in the video because part of the video’s missing, when it goes down, what occurs that the officer then decided to use physical force to take the person to the ground,” Petudo told the publication. “Videos never look good. But that does not warrant judgment. What warrants judgment is the investigation itself.”
