‘Run, Hide, Fight': Naval Station Great Lakes Released From Lockdown

Parts of Naval Station Great Lakes was on lockdown after an armed robbery offbase, the military facility announced on its Twitter account Friday afternoon.

The naval facility said on the social media platform that "all personnel within the fence line can relax and remain in place. Await further instructions. All gates remain closed," before announcing the lockdown was lifted.

Shortly before the update telling personel to relax, several other tweets were posted announcing the lockdown.

"LOCKDOWN (RUN, HIDE, FIGHT). TAKE IMMEDIATE COVER IN NEAREST BUILDING. AWAIT INSTRUCTION. ALL GATES ARE CLOSED," the tweet, sent about 2 p.m., read.

A second tweet was sent shortly after.

"HOUSING, BURKEY MALL, AND CHILD CARE CENTERS REMAIN IN LOCKDOWN DUE TO ARMED ROBBERY OFF BASE, SUSPECT STILL AT LARGE. ALL GATES ARE CLOSED," it read, about 2: 14 p.m.
