Nanny Pushing Stroller Attacked on North Side

A nanny was thrown to the ground, choked and robbed in an alley on Chicago’s North Side Wednesday in front of the child she was caring for, police said.

Chicago police say two men got away with the victim’s purse while a toddler sat in a stroller she was pushing nearby in broad daylight. The attack occurred near North Wood and West Hermitage streets.

Police said they are reviewing nearby security camera footage for leads and there is no good description of the suspects.

Meanwhile, neighbors in the area expressed concern and fear after hearing of the violent attack.

“It was, you know, frightening to hear because that’s the time we come home,” said neighbor Olivia Filbey.

Parents tell NBC 5 they were invited to a meeting at nearby St. Mary of Angels school Thursday morning where a police officer is expected to discuss the incident.
