Naked Man in Custody After Leading Police on Chase Across City

The man has been transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for evaluation, police said

A portion of Lake Shore Drive was temporarily blocked Monday morning as police worked to retrieve a naked man that led them on a chase across the city.

Just after 7 a.m., officers responded to a well-being call in the 100 block of E. Delaware Place in Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood, according to Chicago police News Affairs.

Upon arrival, a man was found “causing a disturbance” and not wearing any clothing, police said.

The man then stole a nearby landscaping truck and took off driving towards Lake Michigan, according to police, before getting into an accident near Lake Shore Drive and Randolph Street.

After crashing the stolen vehicle, the man fled on foot and jumped into the waters of Lake Michigan, authorities said. He was soon after captured by officers near Monroe Harbor.

The man was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for evaluation, police said.

It is unclear if there were any injuries involved and if charges will be filed.
