NYE Celebration Stops on Packed Elevator

No one injured

The new year didn't start well for several people at the Loop W Hotel when an elevator stalled early Friday.

Police officers and Chicago Fire Department crews were called the hotel on West Adams around 2 a.m. after unconfirmed dispatch reports that as many as 30 people were stuck inside an elevator.

Fire Department spokesman Will Knight said crews opened the doors to the elevator and said they didn't take anyone to a hospital.  The elevator did not fall and no one was hurt, according to police.

A W Hotel spokesman declined to comment about the incident.
