Motorcycle Crashes Into Parked Squad Car

Two people were injured early Sunday morning when a motorcycle smashed into a parked police car in the Marquette Park neighborhood, police said.

The crash took place around 12:45 a.m. in the 7100 block of South Western Avenue when a motorcycle slammed into a parked police car where an officer was completing paperwork, police said.

The 40-year-old driver of the motorcycle was vaulted over the top of the bike and suffered broken bones in the crash, according to police.

A 22-year-old woman, who was a passenger on the bike, ended up pinned beneath the car and suffered broken bones and internal injuries, officials said.

The fire department was called to life the squad car off the woman. Both were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious-to-critical condition, but are expected to survive, police said.

The officer in the squad car reportedly suffered minor injuries.

Police suspect alcohol played a role in the crash.
