Mother Found Fatally Stabbed in Closet

A woman was discovered stabbed to death in her Little Village neighborhood home on the Southwest Side on Thursday morning.

Rosa Maria Perez, 27, of the 2200 block of South Sacramento Avenue, was found unresponsive in her home with multiple stab wounds about 10 a.m. and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

The victim's mother, Juanita Guerrero, says she got to speak with her daughter one last time on Wednesday evening.

"She called me and told me she was having problems with her boyfriend. I told her if she wanted to come over or anything, she said no, that's fine," Guerrero said.

A family member discovered the victim's body stuffed into a closet.

"Twenty-seven times he stabbed her and choked her to death. He stuffed her into a laundry bag," the victim's aunt, Rosa Guerrero said.

Perez leaves behind a 12-year-old daughter.

"She didn't deserve this, she did not deserve this, she was a beautiful girl," Rosa Guerrero said.

Police have not made any arrests in the case.
