“Chicago Fire” star Monica Raymund announced Tuesday she is leaving the hit NBC show.

In a message posted on Twitter, Raymund, who plays Gabriela Dawson, said “it’s time for me to move on to the next chapter in life.”

“It has been an honor to play Dawson on Chicago Fire and one of the most meaningful experiences of my life,” Raymund wrote. “I am so thankful for the journey and especially to all of you for watching, but I have made the decision that it’s time for me to move on to the next chapter in my life.”

She ends her note with “on to the next! See you on the ice.”

What Raymund’s “next chapter” will include remains unclear.

The season finale of “Chicago Fire” included a cliffhanger for Raymund’s character that will likely be used to facilitate her exit from the show.
