Amber Alert 911 Calls Released

A 911 recording reveals a mother's frantic state after her 5-year-old son was abducted in a carjacking in Park Ridge Thursday, prompting an Amber Alert.

A woman was unloading groceries at her home in the 1700 block of Good Avenue when a man jumped into the SUV and sped off with a sleeping Drake Whitker in the back seat.

The mother jumped on the SUV trying to get the thief to stop. and tried to chase him down the street as she called 911, the woman's husband told NBC 5.

The 911 operator understandably had problems getting the mother to settle down, so she eventually handed the phone to a neighbor.

The unharmed boy was found two hours later in the missing vehicle in an alley near Oakton and Laramie after an alert citizen who saw the Amber Alert spotted the vehicle and called police.

Deangelo Fountain, 18, was arrested the same night and charged with the carjacking.

He faces felony charges of aggravated vehicular hijacking, aggravated kidnapping and unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle.

Police say Fountain admitted to the carjacking and wasn't aware there was a child in the back seat.
