An April deadline for pre-trial motions was set Tuesday during a brief court appearance for a Chicago-area man charged with trying to travel with his siblings to Syria to join the Islamic State group.
Mohammed Hamzah Khan's appearance in federal court comes just days after FBI agents raided his family home for a second time.
Pre-trial motions need to be filed by April 17, and Khan's next appearance in court was scheduled for April 21.
Authorities didn't say in the lead-up to Tuesday's hearing why they searched Khan's home last week. The Bolingbrook home was first searched on the day of the 19-year-old's arrest, Oct. 4.
Khan's attorney, Thomas Durkin, has said only that agents were looking for communications equipment during Thursday' search.
Khan and his teenage brother and sister were detained at O'Hare International Airport in October. Only Khan was charged and jailed. He's pleaded not guilty to seeking to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization.
