McHenry Teachers Go on Strike, No School Thursday

The strike comes after teachers and District 156 Board of Education met Wednesday night and could not reach an agreement after nearly six hours of negotiations

McHenry High School District 156 teachers have gone on strike, canceling classes and school services for more than 2,500 northwest suburban Chicago students Thursday.

The strike comes after teachers and District 156 Board of Education met Wednesday night and could not reach an agreement after nearly six hours of negotiations.

More than 150 teachers will not be reporting to school Thursday to picket at both McHenry Community High School’s East and West Campuses beginning at 7:30 a.m.

The strike comes after Prospect Heights teachers went back to school Monday after an entire week of canceled classes as teachers and District 23 duked it out over pay.
