A man has been charged with sexually assaulting a woman last month while she walked from a CTA train stop, police said today.

Tyrone Maxwell, 20, of the 4300 block of West Gladys Avenue, was charged with Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault, Aggravated Kidnapping and Aggravated Robbery, according to police. Maxwell was being held at Cook County Jail Thursday for an unrelated parole violation and was linked to the Dec. 20 assault through a DNA match.

The attack in question happened at 6:50 p.m., four days before Christmas. Previous reports say a man approached a woman from behind in the 1300 block of West Barry Avenue as she walked home from a Lakeview "L" stop. He demanded money from her, then implied he had a gun. He pushed the woman into an alley and sexually assaulted her.

Maxwell is scheduled for a bond hearing Saturday.
