Man in Critical Condition After Lighting Himself on Fire in Downtown Chicago

A man was critically injured after setting himself on fire in downtown Chicago Monday night.

The man was found burning just after 9 p.m. at Franklin and Van Buren Streets in the city's Loop, according to fire officials.

Witnesses and police said the man, who authorities say is 24 years old, lit himself on fire.

He was rushed to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County where he was listed in critical condition, officials said.

Police said the incident appears to be a suicide attempt.
