Man Wanted in Texas Shooting Arrested in Chicago

Police are saying that Jaqwa Cheguevera Ross, 18, shot Shelton Thacker, also 18, outside a Super 8 Motel

A man wanted in connection with a Jan. 12 shooting that took place in Texas was arrested in Chicago Friday.

Police are saying that Jaqwa Cheguevera Ross, 18, shot Shelton Thacker, also 18, outside a Super 8 Motel near a pool in the 900 block of North Central Expressway in McKinney, Texas, according to a release from the McKinney Police Department.

Thacker was shot twice in the back, but survived the attack, police said.

An arrest warrant was issued Jan. 22, and Ross was found in Chicago and arrested by authorities from the U.S. Marshals, McKinney and Chicago police departments, according to the release. He was arrested Friday without incident.

Ross was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon with his bond set at $500,000, police said. He was awaiting extradition early Sunday.
