Man Stabbed to Death by Ex-Girlfriend's New Boyfriend

A man was stabbed to death by his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend early Tuesday in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood on the Northwest Side, police said.

At 3:36 a.m., a 19-year-old man was picking up his ex-girlfriend from her new boyfriend’s house in the 5000 block of West Dickens when the boyfriend stabbed him, according to Chicago Police.

The 19-year-old suffered multiple stab wounds to his body and was taken to Community First Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office could not immediately confirm the fatality.

A 20-year-old man was stabbed in the right arm while trying to defend the ex-boyfriend, police said. He was also taken to Community First, where he was listed in good condition.

Police said a man, thought to be in his 20s, was taken into custody in connection with the stabbing and charges were pending Tuesday morning. Area North detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.
