Man Stabbed in the Head on Mag Mile, Police

One man was taken to the hospital in serious condition

A man was stabbed in the neck and another man was cut trying to stop the assailant in front of the Westin Hotel on Michigan Avenue less than an hour after the Magnificent Mile Lights Festival ended.

The stabbing happened around 8 p.m. in the 900 block of North Michigan Avenue during an attempted robbery, police said.

A 35-year-old stabbed in the chest trying to stop the robber, said police.

Police said they took 56-year-old man into custody after the incident and recovered a weapon.

Witnesses said they saw police storm into the nearby The Cheesecake Factory and a man taken into custody near the Hancock Center.

Paramedics took the 67-year-old man with the neck injury in serious condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, officials said. A 35-year-old man was listed in good condition at the hospital.

On Satuday, over a million people crowded along Michigan Avenue for the 21st Annual Magnificent Mile Lights Festival.
