Firefighter, Son Charged in Bridgeport Robbery

A 20-year Chicago Fire Department veteran and his son were charged Tuesday with attacking and robbing a man in Bridgeport.

Eduardo Castro, 48, of the 1400 block of West Fuller Street, faces charges for robbery, aggravated battery and resisting a police officer. His son, Eduardo Castro Jr., 24, of the 2800 block of South Eleanor Street, was charged with robbery and aggravated battery, police said.

The pair is accused of punching a 20-year-old man Saturday in the 3200 block of South Aberdeen Street in Bridgeport. They allegedly stole his wallet, which contained $6, and his jacket.

The 20-year-old victim was taken to an area hospital with a broken nose, bleeding, bruising and swelling.

The father and his son were arrested in the 2800 block of South Lock Street on Sunday, police said. There was a scuffle with officers before they were taken into custody, according to police. 

They are scheduled for bond court on Tuesday.
