Man Shot to Death While Standing on Front Porch

A man was shot to death early Wednesday during an attempted robbery in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side, according to Chicago Police.

The 56-year-old was standing on a front porch in the 7400 block of South Ingleside about 12:10 a.m. when someone walked up to him and demanded his car keys, police said. During the robbery, the person pulled out a gun and shot the man in the left leg.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was later pronounced dead, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office did not immediately confirm the death.

Police said the man’s vehicle was not taken. No one is in custody for the shooting.
