Man Robbed Blocks from Emanuel's Ravenswood Home: Police

The robbery comes less than two months after Emanuel’s son was robbed near his family’s home just three blocks away

A man was robbed at gunpoint by a group of teenagers in Chicago’s Ravenswood neighborhood just blocks from Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s home Monday night.

Police say the robbery happened around 7:45 p.m. in the 4500 block of North Hermitage.

A 32-year-old man was walking on the block when three teens approached him, at least one with a handgun, according to Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Janel Sedevic.

Police said the thieves stole several of the man’s belongings but it was not immediately clear if he was injured during the incident.
The teens fled the scene eastbound on Sunnyside Avenue toward Ashland Avenue.

The robbery comes less than two months after Emanuel’s son was robbed near his family’s home just three blocks away.

According to the police report, 17-year-old Zach Emanuel was walking on the 4200 block of North Hermitage talking on his cell phone at about 10 p.m. when he was robbed just days before Christmas.

A suspect, who was 17 at the time of the robbery, was charged in the mugging and was ordered held in custody by a Cook County juvenile court judge.

The teen had been arrested 11 times, and had 32 contacts with Chicago police, authorities said.

Area North Detectives are investigating the latest incident, officials said.
