Man Rescued After “Dangling” From Cell Tower on South Side

The worker, one of two men working on the cell tower, slipped from a platform and was stuck “dangling” from his harness

A worker on a cell tower slipped Thursday evening and was stuck hanging from his harness for more than 30 minutes in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side.

Firefighters responded to the incident about 6:15 p.m. near 77th and State, Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford said.

The worker, one of two men working on the cell tower, slipped from a platform and was stuck “dangling” from his harness, Langford said.

The man was rescued about 6:50 p.m., according to Fire Media Affairs. He was not injured.
