Family Searches For Man Reportedly Missing After Boat Hopping Saturday in Chicago

Family members are looking for 30-year-old Arthur Labinjo, who was last reportedly seen late Saturday afternoon boat hopping in Chicago.

Ashlie Stapleton spent the last few days trying to figure out what happened to her fiancé Oluwafemi Labinjo.

“I’m scared,” she said. “I’m confused I don’t know what tell our daughter.”

The 30-year-old, who also goes by Arthur, got on a boat with several friends at 31st Street Beach Saturday to hang out on Lake Michigan.

Stapleton says their reservation was from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., but the group decided to extend it by an hour.

She says Labinjo jumped on another boat, leaving all his personal belongings on the boat he originally boarded and everyone in the group thought all the boats on the water that day would go back to the same beach they left from—except that was not the case.

“Based on correspondence that I’ve heard, he was under the impression that everyone went back to 31st Street…we later found out that some might have docked at Diversy Harbor and Hammond, Indiana…we don’t really know where,” she said.

Stapleton says Arthur has good job in IT consulting, gives back to the community and loves spending time with their 8-year-old daughter.

She’s hoping someone can help her find the man she has known and loved since college.

“We just need to know where he could be…whether there was an accident...please reach out to the detectives...if no one else needs him his daughter does,” she said.

Authorities said Labinjo has several tattoos including one of a lion head on the right side of his chest, Chinese lettering on each Tricep, and a cross on a bicep.

Chicago police urge anyone with information to call 312-747-8380.
