Man Killed in Crash While Fleeing Police, 4 Others Injured

Four civilians were hurt and taken to hospitals in “stable” condition

A man fleeing from police died after crashing into four vehicles, injuring four other people on the West Side Thursday afternoon, police said.

Police responded to the intersection of Homan Avenue and Lexington Street at 12:54 p.m. on a call of a man with a gun, police News Affairs Officer Stacey Cooper said.

Officers located the man, who drove away and crashed into four vehicles near the intersection of Hamlin and Jackson boulevards, Cooper said.

Four civilians were hurt and taken to hospitals in “stable” condition, Cooper said.

The man fleeing suffered fatal injuries in the crash, she said.
