A string of car crashes on the West Side ended in the death of a man fleeing a traffic accident.
The man, described as in his 20s, was pronounced dead Sunday night after he fled the scene of a crash and struck several more cars before being thrown from his vehicle, police said.
The accidents happened about 10:20 p.m. on the 5200 block of West North Avenue. Police say detectives were near the 4300 block of West North Avenue when they saw a car ramming another vehicle. When police tried to stop the driver, he fled westbound on North Avenue.
The man then struck several more cars and was ejected from his car.
Police say the incident appears to be domestic-related and remains under investigation. No other injuries were reported.
