Man Killed, 3 Wounded in Chinatown Stabbing

Detectives are questioning a person of interest after man was killed and three more were wounded in a Chinatown neighborhood stabbing Monday night on the South Side.

About 8:15 p.m., officers responding to a call of a person down in the the 200 block of West 23rd Street found a 50-year-old man who had been stabbed in the back, and a 23-year-old man stabbed in the groin about a block away, according to Chicago Police.

The older man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he died, authorities said.

The younger was taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital, where two additional men later showed up with stab wounds. Their conditions were stabilized, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office withheld the 50-year-old man’s name Monday night pending notification of his family.

As of Tuesday morning, a person of interest was being questioned in connection with the stabbing as Area Central detectives conduct a homicide investigation.
