2 Men Injured in Shooting at State and Roosevelt

Shooting happened at 11:10 a.m. in the South Loop

Two men were shot Friday morning at South State Street and Roosevelt Road in Chicago's South Loop neighborhood, police said.

Police News Affairs said the shooting happened at 11:10 a.m. in the 50 block of East Roosevelt, outside the Chicago Transit Authority's Roosevelt station, which serves the Red, Green and Orange lines.

Two men, ages 57 and 30, suffered graze wounds, one to his leg and the other to his back. They were listed in good condition at Northwestern.

In response, the Guardian Angels planned to patrol the area near from 6 p.m. Friday until 2 a.m. Saturday.

“Being an extra set of eyes and ears for the Chicago police and getting involved if we witness a crime ... We want to make sure no one else is shot,” a statement from the organization said.

No description was released of the shooter and it wasn't clear by Friday afternoon as to what led to the incident.
