Man Accused of Sexually Assaulting 12 Year Old

Jorge Horijuela, 25, was charged with two counts of sexual assault of a child

A Palatine man who allegedly sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl is being held on $300,000 bond.

Jorge Horijuela, 25, was charged with two counts of sexual assault of a child after meeting the girl at her bus stop. Police believe there may be more victims.

The victim's mother called police in late May, complaining about harassing phone calls. When a patrol officer arrived at the house, he noticed bruises on the girl's neck. She said they were hickeys from Horijuela.

Horijuela was placed under arrest on May 29 and charged at the time with battery and harassment by telephone.

Police said the 12-year-old girl told her school social worker after his arrest that Horijuela had been sexually assaulting her. She revealed to the social worker that her bus dropped her off in front of Horijuela's house, and the two eventually became friendly, according to police.

Horijuela eventually obtained the young girl's phone number and proceeded to contact her late at night, meeting her when her parents were asleep, police said.

The girl told police that eventually the two became more intimate and Horijuela began sexually assaulting the girl. He was charged June 24.

Horijuela will appear in court again on July 13. He has a number of aliases, according to police, who are investigating whether he had sexual contact with other children.
