Man Found Dead After Jumping Into Lake Near Antioch

Authorities have found the body of a man who dove out of a boat, into a lake near north suburban Antioch Township lake Saturday night.

Emergency crews responded about 6:10 p.m. to Lake Marie near Illinois Routes 59 and 173 after a man was reported missing in the water, Lake County Sheriff’s police Lt. John Crilly said. Dive teams searched until about 10 p.m., when sonar found the body in about 25 feet of water. Divers later recovered the remains.

The man was on a boat with others when he went into the water. Those on the boat lost sight of him and called 911, Crilly said. It was not immediately known why he went into the water.

The man's identity has not been released.
