Man, 21, Dies After Uptown Drive-By Shooting

A man wounded in a Tuesday drive-by shooting in Uptown died Wednesday morning.

Leonardo Matias, 21, was shot about 10 a.m. Tuesday in the 1100 block of West Wilson, across the street from Truman College, police said.

Matias was shot in the head and taken in critical condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 11:01 a.m. Wednesday, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Police said the shooting appears to be a drive-by and he was not the intended target.
