Man Charged in Hit-and-Run That Hurt Grandmother, Teen

The woman and her grandson were struck Monday evening, police said

A Chicago man was charged early Thursday for a hit-and-run crash that injured a grandmother and her teenage grandson.

Devonte Scott, 21, of the 6500 block of South Peoria Street was charged with failing to report an accident with injuries as well as multiple citations including driving with a suspended license, not wearing a seat belt and having inadequate rear-view mirrors.

Police say Scott hit the woman and her grandson at about 6 p.m. Monday as they crossed the street at 65th and Paulina, then drove off.

He was scheduled to go before a judge Wednesday.
