Man Charged With Murder, Robbery Extradited From Wisconsin

A Southwest Side man charged with a fatal shooting during a robbery last month in the Ashburn neighborhood has been arrested in Wisconsin and returned to Chicago.

Omar Dixon, 23, is charged with murder and armed robbery, according to Chicago Police.

The victim was walking through a gangway at 5:52 p.m. Jan. 14 in the 8100 block of South Artesian when Dixon approached, pulled a handgun and announced a robbery before shooting Harris in the chest, according to police.

Terrence Harris, 24, of the 9200 block of South Elizabeth was pronounced dead minutes later at the University of Chicago Medical Center, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Dixon was arrested in Madison, Wis., and extradited to Chicago this week, according to police.

Police said at the time there was a second suspect, but information about a second person involved was not immediately available Thursday afternoon.

Dixon, of the 3500 block of West 83rd Place, is expected to appear in bond court Friday.
