A man was charged with murder when he admitted to killing a woman who went missing last month after going to Starbucks, police and family members said.
Jose Cono-Olvera, 22, of the 4900 block of South Keeler Avenue, was charged Wednesday after police say he admitted to killing Joyce Cluchey in the same block address of his residence. A body was found in the same block Sunday about 12:56 p.m.
Helen Menzyk, Cluchey’s mother, told NBC 5 earlier this month the last place her daughter was seen was at the Starbucks on May 18 at 47th Street and Cicero Avenue is the last place Cluchey was seen on May 18. Chicago police issued an alert for the missing 30-year-old earlier this month.
"I just want my daughter back," Menzyk told NBC 5 at the time. "Somebody has to know where she's at."
Menzyk said her daughter was getting ready to get on the eastbound bus at 47th Street and Cicero Avenue going east when they last spoke.
"I texted her and I said 'I love you,'" she recalled. "And she texted and said 'I love you, too.'"
Cluchey’s son is just 9 years old. Her aunt said a guy Cluchey was hanging out with might have been abusive and believed she was in danger.

"Yes, I do think she is in harm's way," Bonnie Kovalsky said at the time.
Cluchey’s family has since posted a GoFundMe page to help with funeral and burial costs.
“We suddenly lost a daughter and a mother and a niece and a cousin please share and help put Joyce to rest,” it reads.
Cono-Olvera is due in bond court Thursday.
