Chicago Man Charged With Injuring Baby Girl at His Home

14-month-old girl remains hospitalized with brain injury

A Chicago Lawn man has been charged with inflicting a brain injury on a baby girl earlier this week in his Southwest Side home.

Richard Martin, 22, faces one felony count of aggravated battery for the incident that happened about 9 p.m. Monday at his home in the 7200 block of South Campbell Avenue, police News Affairs Officer Janel Sedevic said.

The 14-month-old girl remains hospitalized with a brain injury at Mount Sinai Hospital, but her condition was not known Friday morning, police said.

Martin’s relation to the girl was not immediately identified.
