A Waukegan man was arrested Monday in connection with an attempted sexual assault of a woman on the North Shore Bike Path and Des Plaines River Trail in Libertyville.
Denilson J. Martinez-Rodriguez, 21, was charged with two counts of aggravated sexual abuse and one count each of aggravated battery, sexual abuse and unlawful restraint, Lake County Forest Preserve Police said.
Police said a man tried to assault a woman near a river underpass on June 15 along Route 176. Surveillance videos from businesses near the scene captured pictures of the suspect and his vehicle.
Gurnee Police said they received a 911 call at about 6:15 p.m. Monday of a suspicious male and stopped Martinez-Rodriguez leaving a trail behind Warren Township High School.
Police said Martinez-Rodriguez admitted during questioning to assaulting the woman.
He was scheduled to appear in bond court.
