Man Arrested With High-Powered Gun After Robbery: Cops

Police said the man held up a convenience store in Chicago's South Loop

Chicago Police recovered a high-powered gun and stolen cash after an armed robbery Thursday night in the South Loop, officials said.

Police News Affairs said the man held up a convenience store just before midnight at 18th Street and Michigan Avenue. When he took off running, police chased him and arrested him in an alley between Wabash and Michigan avenues.

Police said the man was in possession of money and merchandise, as well as a reported MAC 11 machine pistol. Police would not confirm whether the pistol was a MAC 11.

The man was injured in the chase and transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.
