Police Arrest Man With Gun on Mag Mile

The man was walking out of Water Tower Place with a large group of teens, police said

A 19-year-old Chicago man was arrested Monday with a loaded gun on Michigan Avenue.

Dimitri Stephen, 19, of the 4500 block of North Clarendon was walking out of Water Tower Place around 6:45 p.m. Monday with a large group of teens, police told the Chicago Tribune.

Officers stationed in the area after recent mob attacks saw the group, and Near North District Commander Kenneth Angarone walked toward them, police said. Stephen began running, tossing the gun as he tried fleeing from police.

Stephen was charged with felony counts of aggravated unlawful use of a loaded weapon, and use of a weapon on the street.

He was ordered held Tuesday on $25,000 bond.
