Judge Rules Marni Yang Can't Get Makeover

The woman accused of killing Shaun Gayle's girlfriend looks like "a crazy woman," her lawyer says

An attorney's appeal to get Marni Yang's hair cut and dyed before her trial was shot down by a judge on Tuesday, signaling the jury selection to begin.

Yang has been in jail since her March 2009 arrest. She is charged with killing Rhoni Reuter, the girlfriend of former Chicago Bear Shaun Gayle, and her unborn child in Reuter's Deerfield home in 2007.

The judge ruled Tuesday that Yang's attorney couldn't appeal a previous ruling to not allow Yang to wear makeup and get her hair cut and colored for her trial, the Chicago Tribune reports.

The attorney described his client's hair as long and gray, the Sun-Times reports.

"Her appearance has declined," Yang's attorney said. "She looks frankly like a crazy woman. She does not look like anyone Shaun Gayle would have a second interest in."

The murder trial is expected to last up to three weeks.  Five of the 14 jurors needed have been selected.  All are men.
