McDonald's Recalls Shrek Glasses

The CPSC says paint on glass is toxic

Fast food giant Mc Donald’s is recalling 12 million of its new “Shrek Forever After” glass collection because dangerous levels of cadmium were detected in the paint. . 

Cadium can damage vital organs including the brain and nervous system.

The 16-ounce glasses sold for about $2 apiece and came in four designs, which featured the movie's main characters.

Bill Whitman, a spokesman for the Oak Brook-based company told the BBC that he thought the products were safe for consumer use, but the company was being careful. 

"To ensure that our customers receive safe products from us, we made the decision to stop selling them and voluntarily recall these products effective immediately," Whitman said.
