Lyric Opera to Hold Fall Costume Sale

The sale takes place from 9a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sept. 6

Fans of Halloween will soon be able to get an earlier start on their costume shopping.

The Lyric Opera of Chicago is having a one-day costume sale Sept. 6 at the Civic Opera House, located at 20 N. Wacker Dr.

The sale, which takes place from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., will feature more than 3,000 costume pieces ranging from $1 to $200.

The costumes being sold were featured in operas including Don Giovanni, The Mikado, The Voyage of Edgar Allen Poe, The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny, A Masked Ball, The Pirates of Penzance, The Ring, The Flying Dutchman, I Capuleti e I Montecchi, and Die Fledermaus.

The items sold as is and all sales are final, officials said. There will be no fitting rooms at the event so shoppers should dress appropriately.

This marks the first costume sale the Lyric has hosted since 2004 when the company warehouse in Pilsen was sold.
