Last-Minute Shakeout Runs to Prepare You for the Chicago Marathon

As runners flock to Chicago ahead of this weekend's Bank of America Chicago Marathon, they might be looking for some last-minute races to shake-up their training just before the big race.

Luckily for them, there are several options this weekend. 

1. The International Chicago 5K 

On Oct. 7, the city will host the second annual International Chicago 5K. The international 5K will be sponsored by Advocate Health Care and will begin at 7:30 a.m. This is the second year Chicago is hosting the 5K in addtion to the marathon. The race aims to “celebrate both Chicago's international zest and the allure of running in a world-class city.” There is a $35 registration fee for the event. 5K runners who register will receive a commemorative scarf, event bib number/timing device and a finisher medal. 2. Nike+ Run Club

At 8 a.m. (CT) Saturday meet the Nike Chicago Coaches and Pacers for a fun shakeout run. The 2.5-mile course will start at the Michigan Avenue Nike store and end in Lincoln Park. There's a group for every pace level and gear check will bring your things to the end location. Nike customizes marathon gear and post-race medal engraving. 3. Oiselle x nuun Chicago Marathon Shakeout Run

Oiselle Volee and Nuun Chicago are joining forces this Saturday for a three-mile shakeout run along lakefront. Oiselle is a running gear company for women and Nuun products keep runners hydrated. Meet them in front the Hilton Chicago 720 S Michigan Ave. 10:30 a.m. (CT). RSVP here.
