Large Emergency Drill to Shut Down Streets Near Willis Tower Saturday

A large police and fire presence can be expected around the building

The Chicago Fire Department is warning the public about an emergency services drill that will take place this weekend in the area around Willis Tower in downtown.

In a public advisory released Wednesday, the department said that the drill will begin around 5 p.m. and could last until midnight.

There will be a “large-scale” police and fire presence around the building, and radio traffic will sound like an actual emergency is taking place, but the public is assured that it is only a drill.

According to the fire department, numerous streets will be closed around the tower, including Franklin, Quincy, and Adams, during the drill.

OEMC says that Franklin will be closed between Jackson and Adams starting at approximately 7:30 p.m.
