6 Injured in Police-Involved Hit-and-Run on Chicago's Lake Shore Drive

The crash happened before 8:30 p.m. Saturday on Lake Shore Drive near East 49th Street

Six people, including two children, were injured in a hit-and-run crash involving a police squad car that shut down a portion of Lake Shore Drive Saturday night, police said. 

At approximately 8:30 p.m., a black BMW sideswiped an unmarked Chicago Police Department vehicle in the northbound lanes of South Lake Shore Drive near East 49th Street on the city's South Side. The BMW also struck a Toyota Camry, and then sped away. 

Four of the victims, two police officers and two people riding in the Camry, were all taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Two infants, a boy and girl, were transported to Comer Children's Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
