After making a miraculous comeback and participating in the Chicago Cubs’ World Series championship, slugger Kyle Schwarber will head back to his old stomping grounds on Wednesday night.
That’s because the Cubs’ star will be heading back to Indiana University, the college where he made his name as a home run hitter and put together a career that made him a top-five pick in the 2014 MLB Draft.
He’ll be going back to campus to serve as the honorary captain for the basketball team as they take on the North Carolina Tar Heels in a matchup of two of the best teams in college hoops.
Schwarber also received an interesting gift as he prepares to hit campus again, as he received a brand new beer fridge and other gifts from Coors:
Schwarber, who was the fourth overall pick by the Cubs in 2014, slugged 40 home runs and drove in 149 RBI during his collegiate career with the Hoosiers, and he was widely regarded as the best pure hitter available in that draft.
He certainly has lived up to that, as he has clubbed 16 home runs in his big league career. He also hit .412 during the World Series as he helped the Cubs to their first title since the 1908 season.
