Grammer, who's in town taping the Starz show "Boss," got inked at Insight Studios, at 1062 N. Milwaukee, the Sun-Times reported.
Shop owner Bob Jones told the paper that Grammer got his wife's name, Kayte, tattooed on his waistline. Apparently, a 21-year-old employee at the front counter didn't recognize Grammer, and asked to see his ID before she'd let him get the tattoo.
Tattoo artist James Eastwood, 23, did the honors. "He's the only famous person I've ever tattooed," Eastwood told the Sun-Times. "He's a pretty down-to-earth dude."
