A federal jury ruled in favor of the defendant Thursday in the case of a woman suing her ex-husband claiming he kept her as a sex slave during their marriage.
The jury ruled in favor of 57-year-old Kevin Anderson on all four counts.
Kimberley O’Brien, 51, filed a multi-million dollar civil lawsuit against Anderson seven years ago.
"Obviously we were disappointed in the verdict," said O'Brien's attorney, Dean Dickie. "It was a difficult case. It's been open a long time and we have great empathy for Ms. O'Brien."
O'Brien claimed her husband started beating and sexually assaulting her on their honeymoon in 2005 and later forced her to abide by the rules of a master-slave contract. That terms of that contract allegedly included walking naked around their Chicago and Wisconsin homes and agreeing to be tied up, whipped and beaten if she refused.
O'Brien testified that when she first met Anderson, she thought she had met her soul mate, but the relationship quickly turned abusive.
But Anderson denied threatening to beat O'Brien, testified that she was the one who introduced him to the world of alternative kinky sex and strongly alluded that she was a high-priced escort when he met her.
"He believes this vindicates what has been his position all along," said attorney Charles Cole.
