Joliet Native Makes it Through Idol Auditions

    Jermaine Sellers gets his singing talent from performing in church.

    Chicagoland has an Idol to be revered.

    Joliet native Jermaine Sellers, 26, wowed judges on the Fox reality show with his rendition of Joan Osborne’s “One of Us.”

    "That was a great interpretation of that song," judge Kara DioGuardi said.

    Randy Jackson called his performance the best vocal yet.

    Sellers, who’s mother has spina bifida, a debilitating spinal disease, was one of the featured stories during the hour-long show.

    He is off to Los Angeles for Hollywood Week.

    Chicago is no stranger to Idol success. Chi-town native Jennifer Hudson is one of the most succesful Idol contestants ever, garnering a grammy and an Oscar since competing on the show.

    Idol’s Chicago audition show continues tonight on Fox.
